Reclaiming Your Exhalation with Reid Admire

  • Arkansas Yoga Collective 7801 Cantrell Rd. Suite D Little Rock, AR, 72227 (map)

If you are like me, the Covid 19 pandemic has stressed you out like never before. Maybe you too have experienced increased fear, anxiety, depression, and/or trouble in personal and professional relationships. Our breath has gone from the thing that calms us down to the thing that can infect other people with a dangerous virus. The breath is sacred, and it's time to get back to that mind set.
"Reclaiming the Exhale" is a 2-hour pop-up class designed to teach students how to use asana + pranayama techniques to calm down the body--specifically focusing on the relationship between the parasympathetic nervous system and the exhalation. This is an ALL LEVELS class. Postures will be easy and symmetrical yet challenging and strengthening, with a large focus on the relationship to the breath and the nervous system.

Background: Of the elements, Air is the least able to be contained. Think about it-- you can hold a scoop of Earth in a cup; you can hold Water in a glass; you can contain Fire by adding or taking away logs-- but how can you contain Air and Space? You can't take a scoop of Air or Space and hold it in a cup, we can't even see Air and Space. We see the effect of the wind on the trees, but we can not see the wind itself. This class will teach students how to "create a container for Air and Space" within themselves in order to experience their ability to use Air and Space in a way that will calm the nervous system and generally strengthen other aspects of their Yoga practice.
